driver died after crashing into a security barrier near the White House on Saturday (May 4) night. The Secret Service said that a vehicle slammed into an outer perimeter gate of the White House complex at a high rate of speed around 10:30 p.m.

Security protocols were immediately put into place, and agents worked to clear the car. When they approached the vehicle to render aid to the driver, they found that he was deceased.

"There is no threat or public safety implications," Anthony Guglielmi, a Secret Service spokesman, wrote on X.

The Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police is investigating the incident as a traffic crash, while the Secret Service is conducting its own investigation into the driver's background.
