One Wisconsin town among the many dealing with frozen waterways and clogged drains because melted snow has no place to go has tried an explosive new approach: blowing up a creek. Town of Onalaska officials hired an Iowa-based blaster to stick several hundred sticks of plastic explosives in the frozen Sand Lake Coulee Creek and blow it up on Friday.
An Eagan couple accused of forcing the woman’s 15-year-old son to do thousands of pushups and run miles outside in the cold, among other odd punishments, pleaded guilty last week to malicious punishment of a child.
According to the complaint: A driver called 911 to report that Doty nearly struck her car and had run into a snowbank. Police found Doty’s car about 11:36 a.m. in the 1400 block of Sherburne Avenue. Doty was leaning against the driver side door. “When officers opened the door, Doty almost fell out onto police and it appeared that Doty had fallen asleep,” the complaint said.
A 30-year-old man posing as a cop shot a childhood friend on the patio of a popular sports bar in downtown St. Paul because his victim refused to join him in robbing drug dealers, according to charges filed Monday.
A fight among people who were drinking in an apartment on St. Paul’s East Side early Tuesday ended with one man dead and another arrested at the scene, police said. Sgt. Paul Paulos, a spokesman for the St. Paul police, said Tuesday that police were not considering the death a homicide, but did confirm that there was a physical dispute that didn’t involve weapons.
A man is suing the city of St. Paul, along with a current and former police officer, after alleging that police entered his home and pepper sprayed and Tased him while responding to a call about loud music.
WQOW-TV says the man broke into the town home after fleeing from a gas station in Dunn County without paying for his gas. An Eau Claire officer spotted the vehicle, which sped away. The 31-year-old suspect then fled on foot and broke into the hostages' home Wednesday afternoon.
A 20-year-old man who was complicit in a north Minneapolis murder three years ago is now charged with fatally shooting an unarmed man in the chest who had been arguing with his stepfather in a North Side home.
According to the complaint: Castile entered the Radio Shack at 2026 Ford Parkway about 2 p.m. on Jan. 12 and asked to see antennas. He pointed a handgun at two employees, ordered one to put a sign on the front door indicating the store was closed and ordered the employees to place iPhones and Galaxy 4 phones into a backpack.
