Last night, a question and answer session was held at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Minneapolis for residens to discuss a proposal to reconstruct 46th Street. The proposed project is a short one. “It is exactly four blocks long on 46th Street between Dupont Ave and Lyndale Avenue. The city has two proposals but backs one that
involves a new road, curbs, gutters and new driveways. Plus it would remove parking on the south side of the street, narrow the street from 44 feet to 40 feet and add bike lanes.”
After residents and local businesses objected to the elimination of parking and other concerns created by the proposed narrowing of the street for purposes of bike lanes, another resident complained "[t]his is discouraging people from getting into biking."
Hmmm . . . is it unreasonable to think that motor vehicle traffic should be the priority?
