Writing for The Week, Harold Maass suggests Hillary Clinton has not been politically damaged by the failure to protect U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans killed at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya because the incident was not as bad (he actually accuses Republicans of blowing the matter out of proportion) as Republicans suggest. Mr. Maass also suggests that Americans do not believe there was any attempt to cover up incompetence in the State Department.

2. Americans don't believe there was a cover-up
3. Clinton's damage control was perfect
4. Her former Senate colleagues went easy on her
