Brash, opinionated and consistently outspoken, the irascible Ron Rosenbaum is an authentic Twin Cities character. Rosenbaum is (in no particular order) a lover of gambling, cigars, and -- most of all -- calling it as he sees it. His political beliefs may best be described as iconoclastic. In other words, he's not drinking anybody's Kool-aid. He brings to Twin Cities News Talk years of experience working in talk radio and television. Rosenbaum, and pals Joe Friedberg and Pat Kessler, make Holding Court must-listen radio. Ron is a lawyer by trade but has done radio for years. In 2003 Ron was named City Pages AM Radio Personality of the Year and is now a regular contributor to Davis and Emmer on KTCN-AM. He also appears on our sister station, KFAN-AM, with Dan Barreiro weekly on Wednesdays. Years ago when he was -- as he puts it -- "young and stupid," he was recruited to help tame racially torn South Boston High School. He's also been a Boston Globe correspondent and a practicing attorney, a Minnesota Law & Politics "Super Lawyer" for years. If you're looking around town for him, your best bet is on the golf course, in the bar at The Lex or at Canterbury Park.

1pm--Channel 4's Pat kessler, as he does each week, weighs in on all things political. Today he tackles the three g's--guns, gays and gambling. He'll also handicap the odds on a special legislative session (my bookie has set the line at 1-20) and even at that he can't get any takers.

2pm--Your humble hosts handicaps the Republican presidential candidates. As one wag put it at the track, the huge field is like the Derby field, long on numbers, short on staying power. We'll see what you think.

3pm--We'll look into the interesting case of a Virginia Presbyterian church that learned the hard way that doing right is not always the same as doing good. The case involves the church acknowledging it failures in a sexual abuse case and finding that by doing so, they're now at odds with their insurers.

1pm--Channel 4's Pat Kessler weighs in on all things political. This week's hot button topics include the big prayer controversy as well as budget and constitutional amendment issues. Pat will also tell us definitively whether there is likely to be a special session.

2pm--The end of the world as we know it? With people the world over warning that today at 6pm the apocalypse will strike, we'll discuss with listeners how real, if at all, their concerns are about this. While some think such predictions are ridiculous, others aren't so sure. Polls indicate that a large and growing percent of the country believes in the Rapture.

3pm--What is it about those male politicians and their sex scandals? It seems that not a week goes by without a political sex scandal. The question, of course, is why? And the answer? Some say it's the ego of the men involved while others maintain it's the aura of power that attracts the women like a moth to a flame. We'll sort it all out in the hour.

1pm--As he does every week Channel 4's Pat Kessler weighs in on all things political. Big question, of course, is with less than three weeks left in the legislative session are the pols any closer to a budget deal. The downtown bookmakers post the odds at 10-1 against, we'll see what Pat thinks.

2pm--Unless you've been living in a cave (and apparently even if you have been) you know that Osama bin Laden, public enemy number 1, was killed this week in a daring raid by Navy Seals. We'll see whether this action has softened or altered the views of listeners who only a few short days ago claimed that this president was not only soft on terror, but not an American citizen to boot.

3pm--Wouldn't be "Holding Court" without handicapping the Kentucky Derby, the famed Run for the Roses. Jeff Maday from Canterbury Park will join me to break down today's race-- and for the 13th year in a row, give listeners the Derby winner. You won't want to miss it.

1pm--Channel 4's Pat Kessler--Pat weighs in on among other topics: the non-need (Ron's view!) for a constitutional amendment on same sex marriage. Also the misinformation on the proposed self-defense/castle doctrine bill as well as chances for a budget bill being passed before the government shuts down.

2pm--Republican National Committee woman and activist Pat Anderson joins the show to talk about the internecine battle within the party over gambling. She'll address the queston whether supporting Racino is at odds with the party's platform.

3pm--Assistant Senate Majority leader Dave Thompson, back by popular demand. Sen. Thompson and Ron will kick around the issues currently before the state legislature and delve into the rise of Donald Trump and his laser focus on so-called "birther" issue. Most importantly they'll discuss what extent, if any, race plays in the issue.

1pm.--Regular contributor Channel 4's Pat Kessler weighs in on all things political. Today's topics include Michelle Bachman (one of America's most influential people), Donald Trump (birther-in-chief), as well as a legislative update. Those topics and more....

2pm.--Special guest 1st Amendment guru attorney Paul Hannah will help us understand why Rev. Fred Phelps is permitted to demonstrate at military funerals while Florida Rev. Terry Jones is barred from doing the same at a Michigan mosque. Paul will make sense of the seeming contradictions in the two cases.

3pm.--Donald Trump, a.k.a. "The Donald". Is this guy for real or merely playing us for suckers to boost ratings for his network reality show? (Here's a hint: P.T. Barnum somewhere is smiling). I'll give you my opinion on the New York real estate tycoon and take calls from listeners to get yours.
