In recent weeks, the Vikings have shown nominal interest in stadium sites within the city of Minneapolis, even as they maintain preference for the Arden Hills proposal. Vikings owner Mark Wilf penned a letter to Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak expressing concerns over the city's preferred Metrodome site proposal.
People have been clamoring for a hire for weeks now, today their wish came true. Today the Minnesota Vikings have announced that they have promoted former Vice President of Player Personnel Rick Spielman as the team's new general manager General Manager.
Spielman joined the Vikings on May 30th, 2006 taking over as Vice President of Player Personnel following the departure of Fran Foley. Prior to his time with the Minnesota Vikings, Spielman worked up through the ranks of the Miami Dolphins starting as the Vice President of Player Personnel in 2000 and ultimately assuming the role of General Manager in 2004.
